The
world's longest-established GM-Holden Dealership
Our relationship with General Motors began in
August 1926, the same month and year GM formally began operations
in Australia. Only Arnott's Motors can claim a continuous
relationship with GM since August 1926.
It all started in
1903, when Herbert William Arnott arrived in Benalla by horse and
cart and set up a coach builder's workshop on the banks of the
Broken River where the Mural is today.
His
two sons, Herbert (Young Bert) and Murray Arnott followed in his
footsteps and the business expanded to include bicycles and
motorcycles. In 1926, General Motors Holden was founded, and
Arnott's have been Holden dealers ever since. |

Neville Arnott took
over from his father Bert in 1975, and successfully led the
business for almost thirty years. His son Rick Arnott joined the
company in 1988 as Service Manager, then moved into Sales a few
years later. He became Dealer Principal of Arnott's Motors in May
2002 - the fourth generation in the family business. |

today one of only a handful of
dealers in Australia that have been
with Holden since the beginning and, with a commencement date of
August 1926, we can lay claim to being the longest established
Holden dealership in Australia. |
